Connected with the AI your team already uses

+ Any other MCP-compatible AI Assistant

Why connect Knowby

Search, create, and execute instructions, right in chat.

An AI assistant is only as safe as what it answers from. Without a connector, your team gets confident answers built from the open internet—not from the procedures your business has approved. Ask in plain language; the connector finds the approved guide and answers from it. The video explains what else you can do with the Knowby MCP connector.

Answer how-to questions

“What's the startup checklist for Line 2?”

The tool then replies with the steps from your approved guide and links back to it.

Find the right know-how

“Which knowbys cover Lockout/Tagout?”

Search your library by topic or category of your knowbys or work instruction guides.

Draft new guides from chat

“Create a knowby from these handover notes.”

Turn an expert's recording or notes into a draft. Modify steps as needed and wait for approval.

Execute governed tasks

“Run the month-end close validation.”

Agents follow the approved procedure, with an evidence trail of every action.

Built-in AI Governance

Let AI answer from your experts.

What your experts captured limits what an AI assistant can say or do. Three controls make that true.

01 · Approved answers

Every answer comes from an approved guide.

The connector finds the right know-how and answers from it—the version your experts approve. Workers get a link back to the full guide, with photos and video.

  • Answers from your approved guides only
  • A link to the source guide with every answer
  • Update the know-how once—every AI answer updates with it
image-png-Oct-30-2026-09-24-06-6002-AM

02 · Permission-aware

Every employee sees only what they're allowed to.

Each person signs in with their own Knowby account, so their AI assistant can only access the work instructions they already have. Admins control whether assistants can connect at all.

  • Personal Knowby sign-in for every user
  • One admin switch to allow or block all assistants
  • Media and data hosted in Canada, the EU, or APAC
image-png-Oct-30-2026-09-31-20-4432-AM

03 · Sign-off and audit

Every AI action is approved and on record.

AI can help create guides, but it can't publish them. And when an agent runs a task, Knowby keeps the evidence.

Human sign-off

An AI-drafted guide stays a draft until a subject-matter expert approves it and publishes.

Audit by default

Every agent run records who it acted for, what it did, and which approved guide it used.

Set up in minutes

Connect your AI in three steps.

01. Turn on the AI connector for Knowby

Admin turns on AI access for your organisation's Knowby account.

  • Log in to the Knowby web app, open Settings, and go to the AI assistant connector (MCP).
  • Switch on Allow AI assistants to connect to this organisation.

This applies to your whole organisation. You can switch it off to disconnect all assistants.

02. Copy your Organisation MCP URL

This is the address your AI assistant uses to reach Knowby.

  • Find the Organisation MCP URL under the switch and select Copy.
  • Share it with your team, or add it once for everyone in your AI tool's admin settings.

Each person still signs in with their own Knowby account.

03. Add it to your AI assistant and sign-in

Connect Claude, Copilot, or other MCP-compatible assistant.

  • Open your AI's connector and add a custom connector called Knowby
  • Paste the URL. A Knowby sign-in window opens; log in and approve access.

The agent only sees the knowbys your account has access to.

Knowby MCP Connector

Add Knowby to your AI assistant.

Each assistant adds MCP connectors a little differently. Pick yours and follow the steps—you'll need your Organisation MCP URL from the second step.

ChatGPT MCP Connector

Works in

ChatGPT on the web, on paid plans

Who sets it up

On Business or Enterprise, a ChatGPT admin may need to allow custom MCP servers first.

Full ChatGPT guide with screenshots →

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Plugins → Add → Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it “Knowby”, paste your Organisation MCP URL and keep OAuth selected.
  3. Select Create as a plugin, then sign in to Knowby and select Allow access.

FAQ

Your questions about MCP Connectors

What is an MCP connector?

An MCP connector links an AI assistant to another app using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source standard. Once connected, the assistant can securely look up and use that app’s information when you ask. The Knowby MCP connector lets Claude, Copilot, and other MCP-compatible assistants search and create knowbys.

How does Knowby keep AI answers governed?

AI governance matters when employees rely on AI for how-to answers, so Knowby builds it in. Answers come from your approved instructions, so employees get the procedure your experts signed off on. Each person signs in with their own Knowby account, so the AI only reaches what they’re allowed to see. And AI-drafted guides need human approval, while every agent run is recorded.

Can the AI publish or change my guides?

The AI can draft new guides, but each one stays a draft until a subject-matter expert approves and publishes it. The same applies to updates: whether it’s a brand-new guide or a change to an existing one, nothing goes live without expert sign-off.

Who controls whether AI assistants can connect?

Your admins. The setting applies across your whole organisation, turn it on to let anyone use an assistant, or off to block all connections.

Which AI tools support MCP connectors?

Major AI tools like Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor, among others, support MCP connectors. This is a continuously expanding list, though, so it’s best to check your AI tool’s updated documentation.

How do the MCP connectors fit into our digital strategy?

It connects your digital work instructions to the AI tools your teams already use. Once your procedures are in Knowby, the MCP connector makes them available to AI assistants, so you get the benefits of AI and a stronger digital transformation strategy while remaining in full control.
